Trade Shows can be confusing, particulary when you are unfamiliar with the language. Here is a list of the most commonly used trade show terms along with their definitions. GANG BOX:  A box containing tools and supplies to repair an exhibit or product in case of trouble.

GARMENT RACK:  Frame which holds apparel.

GENERAL SERVICE CONTRACTOR:  The copmany hired by the trade association or sponsoring organization or a trade show to handle the overall coordination, freight logistics, sub-contracting of ancillary services, and decoration of the exhibit hall.

GENERAL STRIKE:  A strike by the organized workers in all companies in a geographic area. Also, a strike by all the organized workers in one industry.

GLOSSY:  Common term for black and white photographs, reproduced on high gloss paper.

GOOD ONE SIDE:  Grade of plywood whose face side is free of blemishes.

GOOSE-NECK LIGHT:  Small (75 to 150 watt) spotlight with a flexible stem.

GRAPHICS:  Communicative elements such as color, copy, art, photographs, translites, ect. used to illustrate a booth theme or enhance decor.

GRIEVANCE:  An employee's or employer's dissatisfaction with some aspect of the employment relationship. May or may not be limited to dissatisfaction due to interpretation and application of the union contract.

GROMMET:  Rubber, metal, or plastic element for reinforcing holes in weaker materisl. Also used on banners.

GROSS SQUARE FEET:  Total space available in exhibit hall.

GROSS WEIGHT:  The full weight of a shipment, including goods and packaging.
