Trade Shows can be confusing, particulary when you are unfamiliar with the language. Here is a list of the most commonly used trade show terms along with their definitions. NATIONAL LABOR RELATIONS ACT:  Federal law that guarantees to employees in any industry or plant engaged in interstate commerce the right to self-organization, to bargin collectively, and to engage in concerted activities, and that created the National Labor Relations Board to administer the Act. Also known as "Wagner Act." The National Labor Relations Act or 1935 (Wagner Act) is amended by the Labor Management Relations Act of 1947 (Taft-Harley) and as commended by the Labor Management Reporting and Disclosure Act of 1957 (Landrum-Griffin) provides machinery by which empolyee rights to self organization or desire not to be organized are enforced. The act covers the legal requirements which must be met by employers and labor organizations.

NATIONAL UNION:  Union having membership only within the United States.

NEGATIVE:  A reverse print of a plan or art work.

NET SQUARE FOOTAGE:  The amount of space occupied by only the exhibits in a facility-does not include aisles, registration area, lounges, ect.

NET WEIGHT:  Weight of goods alone without any packing, packaging, pallet, ect.

NMFC:  An abbreviation for National Motor Freight Classification. A publication for motor carriers containing rules, descriptions, and ratings on all commodities moving in commerce.

NON-PROFIT:  An organization whose members may not benefit from its net proceeds.

NORRIS-LAGUARDIA ACT:  Federal law that, among other things, limits issuance of injunctions in labor disputes and outlaws yellow-dog contracts.

NO-SHOW:  An exhibitor that does not show up to claim booth space or ordered services. Can also refer to pre-registered attendees.

NOT-FOR-PROFIT:  Non-profit.
