Trade Shows can be confusing, particulary when you are unfamiliar with the language. Here is a list of the most commonly used trade show terms along with their definitions. VALANCE:  An overhead, decorative boarder normally used as a light baffle.

VAN SHIPMENT:  Shipment of exhibit properties via van lines, often consisting of large pieces, crated or uncrated, such as furniture or exhibit materials.

VELCRO:  Brand name of the special tape used to adhere objects to a display. Has two parts; loop fabric. The two parts (male and female) adhere to one another, but may be separated, allowing graphics and other materials to be moved.

VELOUR:  A plush fabric like velvet, used for draperies, upholstry, ect.

VERTICAL SHOW:  A show displaying products and services aimed at a well-defined market; for example, computer products for engineering design and contruction. Compare horizontal show.

VERTICAL UNION:  Union with jurisdiction over all occupations, skilled and unskilled, in an entire industry.

VINYL:  Plastic material used for drapes or table tops.

VISQUEEN:  A type of clear plastic sheeting used to protect carpeting from the time it is laid to the time the show opens.

VOLUME:  Volume rates or classes are those for which a volume minimum weight (Vol. min. wt.) is provided; charges will be assessed at the volume minimum weight shown in the tariff, except that actual weight will apply when in excess of the volume minimum weight.
